Ewing Cultural Center Fall Wedding, Bloomington, IL
What amazing colors on a rainy fall wedding day. The purples and blues just popped against the greens of the lawn and trees at Ewing Castle. What started out to be a perfect September day with bright sunshine and comfortable temps turned south with heavy clouds moving in by 1:00 pm and temps not getting much above 52 degrees. By 3:30 we were getting a light drizzle while trying to do outside photos of the bride and groom and their family members. It wasn’t looking good for the 4:30 ceremony start time. What would they do? Call it off, move inside or go to another location? Well with the help of the Groom’s iPhone and a cool weather radar app (there’s an app for everything, see photo below) they were able to see an in-coming patch of clearing that would last about 30 minutes. The ceremony was delayed by about 30 minutes, the guests were seated amidst a canopy of umbrellas but it all went off without a hitch. As mentioned at the outset, with gorgeous lush fall colors!
Kodos must be given to all their family and friends for their loving support under less than desirable conditions. Everyone could have bailed and gone home early but they suck it out. The show went on, everyone laughed, danced, ate and drank all under a wet tent. A big, I mean a huge round of applause must go out to the the wedding planer Margaret Moore and her staff who kept it all together and a similar round of applause to the caterer from Central Station Cafe operating under far less than ideal conditions. Not only was the food good but it was still hot.
Most of all congrats to Katy and Ryan who who were so cool and collected through it all! All the best to you in your years ahead! Also, thank you for giving us the opportunity to be able to photograph for the first time ever a ‘first dance’ in the rain under an umbrella, precious! Below are just a few of the highlights from the day.
